Market: Atletico Madrid to finish top-four

La Liga holders Atletico Madrid have seen their club’s three best players raided this summer by Chelsea, but they’ve procured some big names in response that will see them stay in the top-four this season.
While the title appears out of their grasp due to the strengthening of both Barcelona and Real Madrid, Atletico should still remain as an elite La Liga outfit following their movements in the transfer market.
Former Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic arrived at the Vicente Calderon this summer, while the Spanish giants also brought in ex-Real Sociedad winger Antoine Griezmann.
As a result, 888 Sport are giving odds of 1/12 for Diego Simeone’s men to finish in the top-four of the table, but they could well push Real and Barca the distance.
Atletico were runners-up in the Champions League last season, but held their nerve in the league at the same time. Challenging on all fronts in 2014/15 with their squad will be difficult, but they surprised everyone by going all the way in the title race, so they stand a chance again.
