Atletico Madrid have announced on their official website that they have signed Danubio defender Jose Maria Gimenez.
Los Colchoneros have agreed on the transfer fee with the Uruguayan club, with the player signing a five-year contract at Vicente Calderon having passed a medical.
Jimenez, 18, will join Atletico in the summer transfer window and he is due to report for pre-season training in July.
The talented centre-back is predicted a bright future in the game and he has chosen a perfect club to continue his development.
Despite his fragile age, Jimenez has already made 10 league appearances for Danubio, while he is currently a member of Uruguay Under-20 side.
The youngster is likely to spend at least one season at club’s reserve squad before he starts challenging for a place in the first team set-up.
Jimenez is club’s first signing of the summer transfer window, but at least few more players are expected to follow.
