Atletico Madrid step up chase for Damiao

Atletico Madrid are set to launch a fresh assault on Internacional striker Leandro Damiao, reports El Confidencial.

Les Colchoneros have long ago started searching for a new centre forward and they are expected to step up their efforts as soon as Radamel Falcao completes his proposed move to Monaco.

Over the past few weeks, Atletico Madrid have been linked with a number of high-profile strikers, but El Confidencial has suggested that Leandro Damiao has moved to the top of their hit-list.

The 23-year-old is widely tipped to make a switch to Europe in the summer transfer window, although other top European clubs are also keen.

There is every chance that los Colchoneros are going to face a stiff competition for the player’s signature from the likes of Napoli and Tottenham.

Leandro Damiao has made a total of 124 league appearances for Internacional and has scored 68 goals in the process.
