Saint-Etienne striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has complimented Newcastle after declaring that he favours a move to the Premier League.

Aubameyang has been linked with a number of clubs across Europe, including Borussia Dortmund, Milan, Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco.

The Gabon international had previously been unwilling to declare a preferred destination as he aims to develop his career following an extremely successful year with Christophe Galtier’s side.

However, the 24-year-old has now revealed that his desire is to play in England, with Newcastle among the clubs said to hold an interest in his services.

“I will choose England before any other destination,” Aubameyang told Sky Sports.

“My dream has always been to play in one of the top two leagues in the world.”

And Aubameyang refused to rule out a move to Newcastle.

“Newcastle is a good club and St James’ Park is a monumental stadium where there is passionate fans,” he added.

Aubameyang made 41 appearances for Saint-Etienne last season, scoring 21 goals.
