AVB says Bale going nowhere

Talk Sport has today revealed that Andre Villas-Boas has asked Luka Modric to concentrate on getting into the Real Madrid first-team and to stop trying to tempt Gareth Bale moving to the Spanish capital.

Modric of course left Spurs in the summer transfer window, but has not exactly set La Liga alight since arriving at the champions of the Spanish top flight.

The Croatian and Bale had a good relationship when playing in the English Premier League and there has been several occasions where the play-maker has said that the Welshman would be a good asset to the Read squad.

This has not gone down well with AVB though and he insists that a move is not likely.

The Spurs boss said: It’s extremely difficult, if not impossible. Obviously Modric is aware of Gareth’s performances because of his love for Tottenham and the fact that he is very connected with him and this football club, but it is completely impossible.”

If the North Londoners are to challenge for a place in the top four this campaign, then they cannot afford to lose someone of Bale’s calibre in the January transfer window.

Villas-Boas knows what a massive player he is for the team and that is why Modric’s comments have not sat well with him at all.

However, as we know, if Real Madrid come knocking it can be extremely tough to turn them down.
