Chelsea striker Demba Ba has been forced to pull out of the Senegal squad to face Guinea on Wednesday.

And the 27-year-old is now a doubt for Saturday’s Premier League home clash with Wigan.

Ba was forced off in the first half of Chelsea’s 3-2 defeat against his former side Newcastle on Saturday after suffering a broken nose.

The injury occurred when the forward collided with his ex-team-mate Fabricio Coloccini’s boot while attempting to win a header as Chelsea trailed 1-0.

The ex-West Ham man tweeted: “All the best to my senegal’s boys tonight vs guinea…. wish i could be there. All the best 2 alain giresse for his debut as senegal manager.”

Ba has netted three goals in nine appearances since joining the Blues in January and Chelsea interim manager Rafael Benitez has Fernando Torres as his only other striking option.

Chelsea have a number of injury doubts heading in to their match against the struggling Latics – with defensive duo Petr Cech and David Luiz both in a race to be fit.
