Baldini: Enrique staying put

Roma director Franco Baldini has laughed off rumours that manager Luis Enrique will leave the club for Barcelona at the end of the season.

Reports earlier this week suggested that the Spaniard is one of the candidates to replace Pep Guardiola at the Camp Nou side, if the latter opts to leave.

In addition, it was rumoured that the 41-year-old has a clause in his deal, which will allow him to leave Roma for free if Barcelona chase his services.

However, Baldini has denied the existence of such an option in the coach’s contract, and insisted that Enrique will remain in the Italian capital.

“Luis Enrique is going nowhere. He is staying at Roma until 2013, and he does not have any clauses in his contract,” Baldini told Il Corriere dello Sport.

Enrique joined Roma from Barcelona B at the start of the 2011-12 campaign, and has guided them to fifth spot in the table after a difficult start at the Stadio Olimpico.
