Ballack: “City back in title race”

(GSM) – Michael Ballack and Chelsea were defeated by Manchester City on Saturday: 2-1. The German midfielder thinks the Citizens are capable of reaching high goals: “We respect every team behind us and we’ve lost against a strong team. It looks like City are ready to fight for the title,” Ballack said.

Chelsea took the lead when Emmanuel Adebayor put the ball in his own net but City bounced back and goals from Adebayor and Carlos Tevez secured the victory for the Sky Blues. “We’re disappointed to lose but we have to remember the good things – the way we fought back and the fact we deserved a draw,” was Ballack’s clear explanation.

Chelsea were awarded a penalty near the end of the game but Shay Given kept Frank Lampard’s effort to secure the win. The loss against City cut Chelsea’s lead at the top of the table to two points over Manchester United. Ballack insists that Chelsea will recover from the loss against City. “We bounced back after defeats to Wigan and Aston Villa and we must do it again.”

Chelsea faces APOEL Nicosia for the Champions League on Tuesday and host Everton on Saturday.

So disappointed over this loss but i’m glad it happened…now Chelsea can get their feet on the ground again and get back to playing like they need to win instead of playing like they’ve been winning.

City’s attacking game is so deadly – their midfield plays with such urgency and when Tevez and Wright-Phillips got things going it created so many options for Robinho and Ade…there were many times I saw the Chelsea legs struggling to keep up with these four…Bosingwa’s presence was definitely missed back there.

A tough loss – I can’t say that enough! I really hoped Chelsea would have displayed some dominance over City, but it was not their day.

City played a great game and it seems that they play their best when they are up against the best…a trend, i’m sure, that should make any team feel a little uneasy about their place.
