Banega rejects Boca Juniors return

Sevilla star Ever Banega has poured cold water on speculation linking him with a move back to Boca Juniors.

La Xeneize recently expressed their desire to resign the Argentina international, but it appears they will have to wait for a couple more years before making another assault.

Namely, Banega doesn’t believe the time is right for a return to La Bombonera as he still wants to play at the highest level.

“Regarding the rumours, I have not heard anything, it’s a compliment, but I am too young to return to Argentina,” the midfielder told Radio Marca.

Banega also went on to confirm that he was perfectly happy at Sevilla, adding that the contract talks were in progress.

The 27-year-old has done well to kick-start his career at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, developing into one of team’s most important players.

His contract may be expiring at the end of the current season, but Sevilla have the option to extend it for another year, although chances are Banega will soon be signing a new and improved deal.
