With Xavi Hernandez expected to leave in the summer and Andres Iniesta likely to follow in the next couple of years, the Catalans are on the lookout for midfield reinforcements.

And they seem to be casting admiring glances towards Manchester United hotshot Ander Herrera, who has been in scintillating form of late.

The talented footballer has been on and off Barcelona radar ever since he was 11 and the Catalans attempted to recruit him last summer before he joined Manchester United.

Barcelona officials have no doubts that he would be a huge success at Camp Nou, but prizing him away from Old Trafford will be no easy task.

Herrera, 25, had a slow start to his career at Manchester United, but has since developed into an important player, and has already scored 7 goals this season.
