Barca step up chase for Maxime Lopez

Catalan daily newspaper Sport understands that Barcelona are hot on the trail of Marseille midfielder Maxime Lopez.

The 19-year-old is already regarded a first team regular at Stade Velodrome and the Catalans are well aware of his qualities.

Barcelona have recently stepped up their interest in the talented footballer and they had scouts present as Marseille suffered a 4-1 loss to Monaco.

Lopez was a rare bright spot in an otherwise disappointing defeat, providing an assist for Rolando’s goal and making his presence known in the middle of the pitch.

The talented footballer has a very good return of one goal and four assists in 13 Ligue 1 matches this season and there are no doubts that Barcelona will continue to monitor his development.

The Catalans also made a check on full-back Djibril Sidibe, who continued the rich vein of form after leaving Lille for Monaco to become one of Ligue 1’s hottest commodities.
