Thierry Henry, the former Arsenal icon, could be tempted to join David Beckham in America’s lucrative league Major League Soccer (MLS).
According to News of The World, newcomer Seattle, who will join the US League next March, are hoping to land the 30-year-old French striker on knockdown price, and are prepared to offer the French striker a package of £5.2million-a-year.
An MLS insider said: “Henry’s profile in the US is far higher than Beckham’s when he signed for LA Galaxy, purely because of the Gillette ads.”
There was a lot of hype surrounding Henry’s Barcelona from Arsenal in 2007, but he has failed to live up to all the expectations. Barcelona had to pay £16.1m for Henry.
