Barcelona and Man City dealt transfer blow

According to Mirror Football, Barcelona and Manchester City could be dealt a major blow in their transfer hopes as Gareth Bale is planning on staying another year at Tottenham.

The La Liga giants watched the 22-year-old on numerous occasions last season and will no doubt be monitoring his progress while City had also been linked with the highly-rated winger.

Bale will have been disappointed that his Tottenham side did not make the Champions League next campaign. They finished in fourth position in the Premier League but Chelsea’s success in the competition means Europa League for Spurs.

Time is on the Welshman’s side though and if he is happy at Spurs he will be desperate to deliver success at the North London club.

A source close to Bale has come out and said: “Gareth believes Tottenham were unlucky not to get into the Champions League after finishing fourth and is happy to stay at the club for now.”

This will come as great news for Spurs’ fans that are sure to be disappointed with the departure of manager Harry Redknapp.

There is still plenty of time for twists and turns in this though and with two giants of the game interested in Bale, he could still be tempted away from White Hart Lane.

Whatever happens, it will be one of the most talked about stories in the transfer window.

We shall see.
