Barcelona join chase for Steven N’Zonzi

Estadio Deportivo understands that La Liga champions Barcelona are hot on the trail of Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi.

With Javier Mascherano usually used in defence, Luis Enrique needs cover for star player Sergio Busquets, and he has now set his sights on the French footballer.

N’Zonzi was recently linked with a move to Everton, and having impressed since joining los Rojiblancos from Stoke City, he may not be staying at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan for much longer.

The 27-year-old has started five La Liga fixtures for Sevilla this season and in spite of the fierce competition for places in midfield, he remains an undisputed starter.

N’Zonzi is, however, still waiting for his France debut, and former England boss Sam Allardyce recently admitted he was exploring the possibility of persuading the midfielder to represent the Three Lions on international level, having spent six years in England, representing Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City.
