Barcelona are pondering summer bid for former Real Madrid stopper Ezequiel Garay, El Mundo Deportivo has revealed.
It is no secret the Catalans are looking to sign a high-profile centre defender in the summer and they have been linked with moves for Mats Hummels, David Luiz and Marquinho.
According to El Mundo Deportivo, Benfica defender Ezequiel Garay is also on their hit-list.
The Argentine is almost certainly set to leave Estadio da Luz in the summer transfer window, with Manchester United and Chelsea believed to be leading the race for his signature.
Nevertheless, the Catalans have reason to believe a return to Spanish La Liga would appeal to the 26-year-old, even if he spent two years at Santiago Bernabeu.
Garay joined Benfica following a disappointing spell at Real Madrid, but, nonetheless, managed to develop into one of world’s top defenders.
He is now ready for a new challenge, and it only remains to be seen what his next destination will be.
