Barcelona keen on Mallorca starlet

Barcelona are eager to sign talented winger Marcs Asensio from RCD Mallorca before the transfer window closes on 31st August, according to Marca.

The Catalans have been hot on the trail of the 18-year-old footballer for quite a while and having learned about the new transfer ban effective from the January transfer window, they are eager to wrap up the deal as soon as possible.

Even if Barcelona started the bidding at mere €1 million, the latest reports suggest they would even be ready to match the youngster’s €4.5 million release clause if necessary.

They will probably have to do that in order to sign the talented footballer since Mallorca boss Valery Karpin is determined to keep hold of Asensio.

After coming through the youth ranks at the club, the winger went on to make 20 Segunda appearances in his debut season, scoring one goal, before playing full 90 minutes in club’s first match of the new campaign.
