Barcelona keen on Uruguayan defender

Mundo Deportivo has learned that Barcelona have been keeping close tabs on Penarol youngster Santiago Bueno.

The Catalans plan to rejuvenate their back line in the near future and they have been following the 18-year-old centre-back for over a year now.

Bueno has yet to be handed his first team debut at Penarol, but he has already represented Uruguay at various youth levels and is predicted a bright future in the game.

Uruguayan press has likened the talented youngster to Atletico Madrid star Diego Godin, while Spanish media have compared him to Gerard Pique.

Either way, Bueno could soon be joining a top European club despite the fact that he has yet to leave his mark on senior football.

The youngster has recently been added to Penarol first team squad and he is expected to finally get some minutes under his belt in the 2017 Apertura championship.
