Spanish title race leaders Barcelona are interested in signing Atletico Madrid’s Uruguayan international striker Diego Forlan as a replacement for the possible departures of Cameroon international Samuel Eto’o and Frenchman Thierry Henry according to Saturday’s edition of Marca.
Forlan, 29 and contracted to Atletico till 2011, would cost Real 36million euros according to a clause in his contract.
The former Manchester United striker, scorer of 23 goals this season and the leading scorer in the 2005 season, joined Atletico for 21million euros from Villarreal in 2007.
Forlan let it be known at the end of January he was keen to leave and join a club with whom he could win titles.
However, striking a different pose on Saturday Forlan told the other sports daily AS that he was happy at the club.
