Barcelona keeping tabs on Schalke’s Leroy Sane

Schalke midfielder Leroy Sane is regarded as one of the most talented prospects in Europe and a lot of clubs have already started following his performances for the German side.

Mundo Deportivo report that Barcelona have sent their scouts on several occasions to Germany over the past two years and that last Friday Barcelona’s technical secretary Robert Fernandez and his assistant Urbano Ortega have watched Schalke’s talent against Mainz.

Catalans are believed to have first been impressed by Leroy Sane against Barcelona’s youth side in the UEFA Youth League before he broke into the Schalke senior team.

Spanish press compare the 20-year-old midfielder with Andres Iniesta and Arda Turan, claiming that Sane is one of Barca’s main objectives for the summer.

Sane is contracted to Schalke until June 2019 and his release clause is €37 million.

Schalke starlet Sane has already made his senior debut for Germany in 2015, while he has so far played 34 Bundesliga matches for Schalke, netting eight goals in the process.
