Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke has admitted the club face a tough task to displace Barcelona at the top of the La Liga table.

The Vicente Calderon outfit have been one of the surprise packages of the 2012-13 campaign, and currently sit second in the league, trailing the Catalan powerhouse by eight points.

“Catching perhaps the best Barcelona team of all time will be difficult given their eight-point lead,” Koke told Uefa.com.

“If not the title itself, then to qualify for next season’s Champions League and finish as high in the table as possible would suffice.”

The 21-year-old then went on to praise head coach Diego Simeone for keeping the Atletico squad on their toes.

“We are having a spectacular campaign, and taking things day by day is working for us. Simeone’s rotation policy is great as it keeps everyone switched on, nobody can relax.

“We know that at any given moment any player can come in and as a group it’s important to realise there will be playing time for everybody.”
