The Spanish giants Barcelona are said to be keeping a close eye on the Marseille talent Maxime Lopez.

According to the reports coming from the Catalan program Tu Diras at RAC1, Barcelona have already approached the French side for a possible transfer. Interestingly enough, the Catalans are keen to secure the signature of the 19-year-old exciting prospect for the next season and not the current one.

Maxime Lopez made a name for himself thanks to some rather exciting displays in France during which he flaunted his technical ability in the center of the park. Already compared to Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez, Lopez is heading towards a bright future and Barcelona want to make sure to grab him in front of other suitors.

Lopez made 30 appearances in his first senior season in France, scoring three goals in the league.

In the meantime, Barcelona are still working on midfield recruitments for the current season and are not willing to give up on their pursuit of Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian is currently a 2/5 favourite to move to Camp Nou until the end of the transfer window.
