Barcelona to reignite Luiz interest

Barcelona are set to move for Chelsea’s David Luiz after having their transfer ban lifted as they launch an appeal, the Metro understands.

The Catalan club have long been linked with a move for the Brazil international, who has been used sparingly since Jose Mourinho returned to Stamford Bridge.

The 27 year old has started just fifteen games in the Premier League so far this season, and could well be moved on when the transfer window reopens.

Barca are eyeing a replacement for Carlos Puyol, who is set to end his time at the Nou Camp in the summer, and see Luiz as an ideal man to fill the void.

Chelsea played out a goalless draw against Atletico Madrid in the Calderon in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final yesterday evening and the Blues, who won the competition in 2012, are now priced at 9/2 to go all the way this time around.
