Barcelona to cash in on Alves

ESPN reports that Barcelona plan to sell star defender Daniel Alves next summer and will, therefore, not be renewing his contract.

The Catalans could have already cashed in on the Brazilian, with Paris Saint-Germain showing interest in the summer transfer window, but they ultimately failed to receive a tempting offer.

Nevertheless, ESPN has suggested that Barcelona aim to offload the player at the end of the current campaign.

The player, who has a contract until June 2015 at Camp Nou, is currently valued at €20 million, and the Catalans are eager to sell him before his price drops any further.

Daniel Alves has largely impressed since joining the club from Sevilla some five years ago, but he is no longer regarded as an indispensable member of the squad.

The 30-year-old has made a total of 164 La Liga appearances for Barcelona, scoring 13 goals, and winning four league titles in the process.
