Barcelona turn to Agger

El Mundo Deportivo has learned that Barcelona are weighing up a move for Liverpool defender Daniel Agger.

The Catalans have been following the Danish defender for almost two years now, but he was never at the top of their hit-list.

However, with Barcelona failing in their attempts to sign Thiago Silva and David Luiz, they could now turn their attention to Agger.

With captain Carles Puyol nearing the end of his career, Tito Vilanova is desperate to sign another central defender this summer, and there is every chance he will instruct the club officials to try and sign the Denmark international.

Agger is considered an important member of the side at Anfield, but it is believed the Reds would not be able to resist a big money offer from Camp Nou.

The 28-year-old has spent last eight years at Liverpool, making a total of 155 Premier League appearances and scoring 7 goals in the process.
