Villarreal are close of completing the free transfer signing of Barcelona’s Edmilson in the next few days, as Barcelona opted not to renew his contract when it expires in June.
Villarreal finished second in La Liga, and will receive an automatic pass to next season’s Champions League. With the signing of the 31-year old, who has over 40 caps for Brazil and is a Champions League winner, they are looking to add more experience to their side when their battle for the European trophy begins.
The Brazilian underwent a medical at the club on Friday, and is expected to sign a 2-year deal with Manuel Pellegrini’s side. He will be the club’s first signing for next season.
