UAE champions Al Ain are reportedly interested in signing Lyon winger Michel Bastos as well as a Premier League striker.
Le Parisien reported this week that 28-year-old Brazil international Bastos was close to a four-year deal with Cosmin Olaroiu’s side.
According to a Sport360 report, Al Ain said they were keen on signing the former Lille man but insisted the deal was far from done.
Meanwhile, Al Ain chief executive Carlo Nohra revealed the club was closing in on a replacement for striker Yasser Al Qahtani, who has returned to Al Hilal, with an unnamed Premier League player top of their list.
“We’re in talks with a player from the Premier League to cover Yasser’s position, although I can’t tell you where the negotiations are, and what the outcome may be, because I’m not party to those discussions,” he said.
“Representatives of the club have been dealing with this for the past 10 or 12 days, but there is no particular date yet for resolution.
“I’m sure they have one in mind, because if he doesn’t want to come then somebody else will have to be sought.”
