Marseille coach Elie Baup has played down the significance of three straight losses after a superb start to the Ligue 1 season.

Marseille were knocked out of the League Cup by PSG on Wednesday following a 2-0 loss to German side Borussia Moenchengladbach in the Europa League and 1-0 defeat at the hands of Troyes in the league.

Baup’s side started the season on fire with six straight wins in the league but have only one point to show from their past three matches.

“These are defeats in three different competitions. We will be back in Ligue 1 on Sunday and we’ll have to be careful against a team who have scored a lot of goals lately,” Baup told the club’s website.

Newly promoted Ajaccio pose the next stumbling block for Marseille having netted four times in a 4-4 draw with Lorient in their previous outing.

“You can try everything, imagine everything… we must find the way to win after three defeats and find the best combination for that,” Baup said.

“In all cases, we need to be aware of Ajaccio.

“Ajaccio haven’t conceded a goal at home yet.

“I saw the match against Lorient and they led 4-1, so there is potential in this team.

“At home they have good statistics so this is a team that is in really good shape which works well.”
