Bayer Leverkusen keen on Cedric Soares

German daily newspaper Rheinische Post has suggested that Sporting Lisbon defender Cedric Soares is one of the players Bayer Leverkusen are looking at.

It would appear as though coach Roger Schmidt has made signing a new right-back a priority in the January transfer window, and the Portuguese full-back is among the players on his hit-list.

Cedric, who is also followed by Arsenal and Schalke, has a contract until June 2016, although Record has learned that he could soon be signing a new deal at Estadio Jose Alvalade.

According to Rheinische Post, die Werkself are also casting admiring glances towards Valencia’s Antonio Barragan and Red Bull Salzburg defender Andre Ramalho.

And while the Spaniard is unlikely to be interested in leaving Mestalla having finally nailed down a regular starting berth, boss Roger Schmidt might ultimately decide to make a move on Ramalho.

The pair worked together at Red Bull Salzburg, with the 22-year-old enjoying a breakthrough season last term.
