Bayern Munich youngster Mitchell Weiser has hit out at suggestions he made a mistake in moving to the club.

The midfielder went to the Bundesliga leaders from Cologne in mid-2012, but failed to make a single appearance for the first team before being loaned out to Kaiserslautern.

However, the 18-year-old insisted he was right to move to Jupp Heynckes’ side, claiming to have learned a lot from his time at the club.

“My move to Bayern was certainly not a mistake,” he told Sport Bild.

“I’ve spent half a year training with world-class players and have learned a lot.”

Weiser added that although he remains in contact with assistant coach Peter Hermann, he is unsure whether the Bundesliga champions-elect will take him back at the end of the season, particularly with Pep Guardiola set to take charge.

“I don’t know whether Bayern will take me back this summer,” he said.

“I still haven’t had any further signs from co-coach Peter Hermann other than text messages, but of course the new coach isn’t there yet either.”
