The Mirror is reporting that Bundesliga big guns Bayern Munich have joined the race for Ajax starlet Matthijs de Ligt.
Top European clubs are already casting admiring glances towards the 18-year-old stopper and the Bavarians seem to be ready to make their move.
According to reports, Bayern scouts were present as Ajax faced title rivals PSV Eindhoven at the weekend, making a check on their target.
Even though de Ligt failed to impress in said match, his performances this season were enough to suggest he is likely to develop into a world-class defender.
The youngster has so far scored 5 goals in 41 Eredivisie appearances, while earning 5 Netherlands caps.
It is believed that Barcelona are hot on his trail and the Catalans could come forward with an official proposal in the summer.
