Beating Inter won´t help, says Ferrara

Juventus’s junior coach Ciro Ferrara, a former rugged defender with the Old Lady of Turin, said on Tuesday that even a victory over title rivals Inter Milan on Saturday won’t change anything.

Juve’s slim title hopes virtually died on Saturday as they were beaten 3-2 at Genoa, leaving them 10 points behind Inter with seven matches remaining.

Even if they were to win every game until the end of the season, Inter would only need to win four of their seven to wrap up a fourth straight scudetto crown.

And Ferrara admitted that Juve are not holding out much hope of a first title since 2003.

“It’s a match that is eagerly anticipated and it’s worth more than just the three points,” he said.

“It will give us a morale boost but it won’t change anything inside the heads of the Inter players.

“Inter are too solid, if they don’t let up it will be difficult for Juve to come back at them.

“Even when the nerazzurri have a blip Juve don’t make the most of it.”

Inter had one such rare blip at the weekend when they lost a 2-0 half-time lead at home to Palermo to draw 2-2.

But Juventus then failed to take anything away from Genoa and the gap between the two kept on growing.
