Paris St-Germain assistant coach Paul Clement has hailed David Beckham’s impact at the club and hopes he will extend his stay.

Beckham arrived at the club in January after leaving MLS side LA Galaxy and has made 12 appearances including both ties of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final against Barcelona.

Clement, who also worked with PSG manager Carlo Ancelotti at Chelsea, praised Beckham’s attitude and application since arriving in Paris.

“Everyone was excited when they knew he was coming because he had a fantastic reputation as a pro and a man and great quality on the field still,” Clement told beIN Sport.

“He’s been a breath of fresh air here. He gets on with everyone, first out to training, last one back in, real enthusiasm for the game.

“You know after 20 years of playing at the top level, he still loves his football and hopefully he’ll be able to continue for a little bit longer.

“The club have made it clear that they’d like him to stay on, but he’s made it clear that’s he’s going to have a think about it at the end of the season, talk to his family, see how his body feels. If he feels fresh I’m sure he’ll continue.”

Meanwhile, Lyon manager Remi Garde believes Arsene Wenger will reject PSG’s advances and remain at Arsenal until at least the end of his contract.

Wenger has been linked with a move to PSG with Garde, who played under Wenger at Arsenal, tipped as a possible long-term replacement at the London club.

“I have no information. It’s been a few years since I worked under him,” Garde told RMC.

“Maybe his experience has changed his principles, but I tend to think he will end his contract with the Gunners.

“When he arrived at Arsenal the situation was not easy. There were major British stars, sacred personalities. But I think he is quite capable of handling PSG, if it should happen.”
