The former England captain is due to make his debut for the club next weekend against Marseille, after his high-profile switch from MLS champions LA Galaxy to the French capital.

are unbeaten in 14 games in all competitions and have a healthy lead at the top of the table, however Ancelotti said the time was not yet right to release the former Manchester United hero into the league battle.

“Beckham doesn’t play he will stay here to train, to improve his physical condition, to give him another week to train and after that he will be ready,” Ancelotti said.

The former Chelsea manager added Beckham’s transfer to the league leaders wouldn’t ruin the first-team culture.

“There is no ego here in this club and David has arrived very well with a good relationship with the other (players). There is no problem,” he said.

On their title hopes, Ancelotti said his side can’t afford to flirt with their form despite a five-point buffer at the summit.

“It is complicated because everything is going well at the moment. Now the difficulty is to be able to remain calm and to keep our confidence. It is going to be the thing we have to work on. To keep the same attitude,” he said.

“I do not think that because we played a team at the level of Valencia (in the Champions League in midweek) we will be less motivated against Sochaux.

“Everybody realises the importance of the game of tomorrow. It is true that we are six (five) points ahead and we want to keep it this way. We are only focused on the game tomorrow. Sochaux is a good team, playing good football.”
