David Beckham’s return to MLS champions Los Angeles Galaxy has been delayed but contract negotiations reportedly remain ongoing.
The former England captain’s contract expired on December 31, but – after a deal with Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain fell through – his representatives remain confident he will re-sign with Galaxy, The Guardian claims.
Beckham was pitch side as of two of English football’s brightest former stars returned to action, with ex-team-mate Paul Scholes making his comeback for Manchester United in their 3-2 FA Cup victory against rivals Manchester City on Sunday.
The veteran midfielder was then at the Emirates Stadium on Monday to see a Thierry Henry-inspired Arsenal beat Leeds United 1-0 in the same competition.
Beckham will not be tempted into a short-term deal with former club Manchester United, the report claims.
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has said, however, the 36-year-old would be welcome to train with the Spurs squad, as he did during the MLS off-season in 2011.
