Braces from Carlos Bacca and Lior Refaelov inspired Club Brugge to a thumping 6-2 win over basement side Waasland-Beveren on Saturday.

Colombian striker Bacca took his season goal tally to 13 with goals in each half, Refaelov netted a first-half double, while Maxime Lestienne and Bjorn Vleminckx added efforts of their own in the Belgian First Division clash.

Benoit Ladriere and Wesley Sonck scored late on to salvage some pride for Waasland-Beveren.

New coach Juan Carlos Garrido and his side are within six points of defending champions Anderlecht, who are set to face Kortrijk on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Mons leapfrogged OH Leuven into seventh position following their 3-1 triumph.

French striker Jeremy Perbet was the star of the show with a hat-trick at the Stadion Den Dreef.

In other Belgian First Division results on Saturday, Cercle Brugge climbed off the foot off the table thanks to a 3-1 win against third-placed Genk, Gent fell to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Lierse and Sporting Charleroi clinched a 1-1 draw with Mechelen.
