Zulte-Waregem climbed to third in the Belgian First Division after a 3-1 home win over Cercle Brugge on Saturday.
After a scoreless first half, Central African Republic forward Mahamadou Habibou ignited the match with the opening goal on 59 minutes.
Habibou – who entered the fixture with four goals in his last two matches – converted Franck Berrier’s assist before getting a second goal just six minutes later.
The hosts were cruising but a red card to defender Steve Colpaert changed the match and gave the visitors a penalty.
Icelandic forward Eidur Gudjohnsen stepped up and buried the spot-kick to make things interesting with 19 minutes remaining.
But despite being a man down, Zulte-Waregem wrapped up the three points thanks to Berrier’s finish with five minutes left.
Nigerian forward Derick Ogbu scored a hat-trick as OH Leuven won 4-0 at strugglers Sporting Charleroi.
Ogbu opened the scoring after just two minutes before he turned provider, setting up Gambia attacker Ebrahima Sawaneh for the game’s second goal on 64 minutes.
There was still time for Ogbu to score two more times though as OH Leuven made it nine goals in their last two matches.
In other results, second-half goals from Kostadin Hazurov and Ibrahima Gueye help Lierse to a 2-2 draw at Lokeren, while Waasland-Beveren and Mechelen’s match finished with the same scoreline and Kortrijk beat Mechelen 2-0.
