(GSM) – Defending Belgian champions Anderlecht earned an comfortable 5-0 win over Mechelen on Sunday while Club Brugge crashed to a 2-1 defeat at Germinal Beerschot.

Mbark Boussoufa scored the opener for Anderlecht after 15 minutes against Mechelen, who went on losing two players to red cards with Antonio Ghomsi (26th) and Maxime Biset (51st) having to take an early shower.

Guillaume Gillet then doubled Anderlecht’s advantage in the 72nd minute, after which further goals from Matias Suarez, Olivier Deschacht and Jonathan Legear set the score to 5-0.

Anderlecht remain in second place, at four points from leaders Genk.

Club Brugge had a good start in their away match to Germinal as Karel Geraerts put the visitors ahead on 32nd minutes. But Faris Haroun leveled in the 68th minute and the hosts got a winner through Junior Negrao in the 85th.
