Serbian daily newspaper Sport has learned that Portuguese giants Benfica are keen on Red Star Belgrade full-back Luis Ibanez.

The Eagles are in the market for a left-sided defender given the fact that Eliseu is set to leave when his contract expires in the summer.

And the Serbian media have suggested that Benfica are looking at Red Star defender Luis Ibanez, who is a close friend of Eagles star Nicolas Gaitan.

It is the Argentina international who urged the club officials to lure his compatriot to Estadio da Luz, and the Eagles are now set to watch him in the high-profile clash against Partizan Belgrade.

Luis Ibanez, 27, has been in excellent form since joining from Gyori ETO, having managed 5 goals and 6 assists in 20 league appearances.

The experienced full-back has helped Red Star open up a 25-point lead at the top of the standings and his excellent displays clearly did not go unnoticed.
