Benfica keen on Junior Alonso

Portuguese champions Benfica are weighing up summer bid for Lille defender Junior Alonso, O Jogo can reveal.

The Eagles plan to rejuvenate their back line in the summer and the Paraguayan stopper has emerged as their top target.

Alonso had joined Lille from Cerro Porteno some 18 months ago and he did well to immediately nail down a regular starting berth.

The 25-year-old has been in fine form this season, making 30 league appearances and scoring 2 goals, and he is now being linked with a summer exit.

Alonso has also impressed on the international stage, starting 8 matches for Paraguay in the 2018 World Cup Qualifying and scoring in a 2-1 triumph over Ecuador.
