SL Benfica are hot on the trail of Dinamo Zagreb youngster Branislav Kalaica, Record has suggested.

The Eagles remain attentive to Europe’s hottest talent and the Croatian defender is the latest youngster on their radar.

Kalaica came to their attention while playing for the country’s Under-17 side and Benfica representatives have since closely monitored his performances.

Benfica scouts have watched the youngster in action several times already this season and they could take advantage of the fact that he has yet to make his first appearance for the Dinamo Zagreb senior side.

Kalaica did start three matches in this year’s UEFA Youth League, while representing Croatia at the Under-19 level after he had taken part at the Under-17 World Cup in Chile in October and November.

The towering centre-back is predicted a bright future in the game and Benfica are expected to make their move before other top European sides start taking notice.
