Benfica ponder swoop for Roma defender

Benfica are interested in signing Roma defender Jose Angel, Portuguese newspaper Record claims.

The Eagles are far from satisfied with performances of Brazilian Emerson and are actively searching for a new left-sided defender.

Record claims the Portuguese giants have enquired about the possibility of signing Jose Angel from Roma.

The Spaniard only joined the Giallorossi last summer from Sporting Gijon, but has had a pretty disappointing start to his career at Olimpico.

The 22-year-old was part of one of the worst defences in Serie A and the club chiefs wouldn’t mind to see him leave the club in the summer.

The Portuguese publication reveals that Roma are interested in Benfica defender Daniel Wass, who largely impressed on loan at Evian, meaning that a swap deal could be on the cards.

The Denmark international has scored 4 goals and set up 2 more in 29 Ligue 1 games last season.
