Benfica to break the bank for Argentine hotshot

Benfica are looking to make Eduardo Salvio their most expensive signing ever, according to Record.

The Argentina forward is currently on loan at La Luz from Atletico Madrid and Eagles have the option of making the transfer permanent for €15 million.

After the player largely impressed during the last two months at La Luz, Benfica chiefs are seriously thinking about matching the transfer clause, which would make Salvio the most expensive signing in club’s history.

The Argentine struggled to make an impact during the first few months at the club, but has recently established himself as a starter, with the Eagles now hoping to keep him at the club.

They have until 31st May to buy out his contract and everything suggests they will exercise the purchase option.

The 20-year-old has been in impressive form in the second part of the season and he scored against both Sporting and Stuttgart last week.
