Benin striker Mickael Pote is determined to ‘give everything’ for his country in their quest to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The Squirrels are currently top of their qualifying group after last year’s surprise 1-0 win over Mali and a 1-1 draw in Rwanda.

And Pote says a win against Algeria next month could bring them a step closer to something ‘incredible’.

“I think we’ve got off to a great start, but there’s still a long way to go before we get to the World Cup in Brazil,” the 28-year-old told FIFA.com.

“We know it won’t be easy, but we won’t give up hope of achieving something incredible.”

Pote is currently in a relegation battle with his club Dynamo Dresden in 2.Bundesliga and has spoken of his pride when playing for his country, coached by former France international Manuel Amoros.

“It’s something very special to play for Benin,” he said. “Hearing the national anthem sends shivers down my spine every time.”

Benin are currently 93rd in the FIFA world rankings and their next match is away to Algeria on March 22.
