Benitez plots more signings

Despite continuously complaining that he does not have enough money, Rafa Benitez has been one of the busiest managers of the summer. With the likes of Degen and Cavalieri already signed, the Liverpool manager announced that he hopes to bring in two more players by the end of next week

“We are still working hard to bring in two more players. I would hope that there would be some progress next week or very soon.” Said Benitez as reported by Setanta Sports.

According to a report in The Times yesterday, Robbie Keane is a primary target for Benitez, but he would have to raise more money before he can afford the Irish captain. Another target, as everyone know by now, is Aston Villa’s Gareth Barry.

It remains to be seen if Benitez will manage to raise the £38 million (£20 million for Keane, according to The Times; £18 million for Barry according to Martin O’Neill) to buy them both or whether he has a surprise lined up for the Liverpool fans.
