Benitez wants new signings; Manchester City to bid for Sunderland hotshot

Rafa Benitez wants new signings

Rafa Benitez has admitted Inter need to buy new players following the narrow win over Cagliari.

The Spaniard wanted to rest some of his star players for the Champions League game against Tottenham but couldn’t do so due to numerous injuries to the playing squad.

He then admitted the club needed to bring a couple of new players in January.

“We need to analyse two or three situations with director Marco Branca. I think we need to buy new players in January so we can be sharp right to the end of the season.”

Once again it was Samuel Eto’o who scored the winning goal but Benitez denies the speculations that Inter is too dependant on the Cameroonian.

“We are not dependent on Eto’o. When I have a more complete squad to choose from, we will have more alternatives and styles of play.”

There is no doubt the Neroazzuri need much bigger squad than they have at the moment if they want to challenge for honours and I, for one, was really surprised to see Inter completely out of the market last summer.

Manchester City readying bid for Sunderland hotshot

Manchester City are keen on Sunderland midfielder Jordan Henderson and they will move for the England U-21 international in January.

After impressing for the Black Cats last season, Henderson has become a key player for Steve Bruce’s side and is widely regarded as one of the hottest prospects in England.

Having started the season well, the Citizens are eager to sign few more players in January to keep their top 4 bid alive, with the Sunderland playmaker their number one target at the moment.

City officials have already made an inquiry for the player and have been told Henderson would cost around £16 million, which is hardly a lot of money for the free-spending Citizens.

Sunderland are, however, keen to hold on to their star player and are ready to offer him a new deal, although they will have no choice should City send an offer too good to turn down.

Roberto Mancini’s side face a stiff competition for the player from Chelsea and Manchester United, but they still remain the favourites for his signature.

Jorge Valdano hints at Fernando Llorente move

Real Madrid sporting director Jorge Valdano admits the club are searching for a new striker.

Asked about the possible signing of Wayne Rooney, Vladano replied:

“We have two marvelous strikers, who showed last season they are able to score 60 goals, and Di Maria, Ozil…they will help. The question is who will be dropped if we sign Rooney.”

He also spoke about Athletic Bilbao striker, Fernando Llorente, who’s been heavily linked with a move to Santiago Bernabeu.

“I love him, but to find him a place in Real Madrid would not be easy. Every season there will be a new player, but not necessarily a striker.

”Llorente is growing fast and is ready for new experiences, but often the media are discussing things that do not occur in the club.”

Even though Valdano doesn’t want to openly say the club are looking for a new striker, Jose Mourinho is clearly unhappy with his options up front, and you shouldn’t be surprised if Fernando Llorente makes a switch to Santiago Bernabeu in January.
