Bent completes Derby switch

Derby County have completed the signing of Darren Bent following his release from Aston Villa, according to Sky Sports.

The striker moved to the iPro Stadium in January, and made seventeen appearances for the club in all competitions though his ten league goals were not enough to force them into the play-off places.

Prior to his move to the East Midlands outfit, Bent made just seventy-two appearances for Villa having signed for them in January 2011.

He has over a hundred Premier League goals across spells with Villa, Sunderland, Tottenham Hotspur, Charlton Athletic and Ipswich Town though he will spend the next season in the second tier as Derby look to return to the top flight.

Internationally, he has scored four goals in thirteen appearances for England though he hasn’t played for his country since coming off the bench in a 1-0 friendly victory over Sweden in November 2011.
