Olympique Lyonnais striker Karim Benzema will be sidelined for at least two weeks as result of a muscular injury in his right upper leg.
Benzema first began experiencing problems after representing France in a friendly with Uruguay last week, but nothing was found on post-match scans.
During the Champions League match with Fiorentina on Tuesday, the forward was brought down by an opponent and this seemed to worsen the injury. Manager Claude Puel told l’Equipe that Benzema should be out for at least 14 days.
Benzema should miss the Ligue 1 matches with Valenciennes and FC Nantes, and possibly the Champions League clash with Bayern Munich.
