Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema believes it would be in his club’s best interests if coach Jose Mourinho stays at the Bernabeau.

Recent reports have suggested that the Portuguese coach could say farewell to the Spanish giants at the end of the season, but Benzema hopes that the ex-Chelsea boss will stay put.

“Mourinho has given me a lot ever since he arrived at the club. Personally, I want him to stay at Madrid. That would be the best for everybody involved,” Benzema told reporters.

France international Benzema then went on to discuss Real’s possible opponents in the Champions League round of 16, and made it clear that he would like to take on Paris Saint-Germain.

“Every team that is left in the competition will be a tough opponent and if we want to do anything in the competition then we have to beat whoever we draw,” Benzema said. “But I would like PSG because they are a French team.”

The draw for the first Champions League knockout stage takes place in Nyon on December 20.
