A report from Talk Sport today suggests that Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov could join Fiorentina after a summer of speculation.
The Bulgarian was an unused substitute for the Red Devils in their English Premier League defeat to Everton on Monday evening and seems desperate to leave Old Trafford to play regular first-team football.
With the arrival of Robin Van Persie at United, Berbatov looks as though he has been put even further down the pecking order.
The Serie A team could now make a move for the striker with a bid believed to be around £3.2 million.
Fiorentina have had their star forward – Stevan Jovetic linked with a move away from the club in the summer transfer window and should they lose him, could really step up their interest in the 31-year-old.
Few can doubt Berbatov’s playing ability and if he is managed correctly and playing on a regular basis then he would be a superb bit of business for the Italian team that could help them make a push for Champions League football.
With AC Milan also apparently keeping tabs on him, this news could see them try and make a bid for the attacker.
We shall see.
