Dimitar Berbatov has been voted best Bulgarian footballer for the third time in a row. The Manchester United player beat Levski Sofia keeper Georgi Petkov and Slavia Sofia midfielder Blagoy Georgiev.
Berbatov, who is only 27 years old and has a whole future ahead of him, has now won the trophy five times and moves into joint first place with Bulgarian legend Hristo Stoichkov.
Berbatov began his career at CSKA Sofia in 1999 and moved to Bayer Leverkusen in January 2001. While not that successful in the Bundesliga during his first months in Germany, he did help to lead Bayer to the Champions League final.
After five years, the forward tried his luck in the Premiership where he joined Tottenham Hotspur. With 27 goals in 70 games, he eventually attracted the interest of Manchester United this summer.
